While at a previous firm, Eric Cohen was the lead designer of an assisted living campus with a dedicated program for residents with Alzheimer’s and related dementias. Over the years, an increase in the population of residents with dementia who have aged in place has necessitated the conversion of the general assisted living residence to better accommodate those with dementia. This study provided a review of current code statutes in addition to planning options that could be implemented over time.
