Mill House

The client desired an open plan and casual, American rural image for this new guest house. Inspired by the typical layout of a barn with its single space and hayloft, the living area soars to 20 feet at its peak, which is featured by a stone-faced fireplace chimney. Ponderosa pine floors and plaid upholstery, a painted rocker, and sturdy tables with a simple profile complete the theme. Sentiment receives a place of honor: the model ship on the mantel (above and right) was built by the client’s father in the 1930s.
